Coaching volleyball is about more than just the game—it’s a way to give back. As a 13-year-old refugee from the Vietnam War, I was given the opportunity to grow, build a future, and find success in this incredible country. I graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Information Systems Management, built a career as a Senior Budget Analyst for the State of Ohio, and have been married for 37 years, with my proudest achievement being bringing my entire family to the U.S. for a better life.
Volleyball has played a powerful role in shaping my personal journey, teaching me discipline, resilience, and the value of hard work. I’ve spent more than 40 years deeply involved in the sport—as a competitive player, dedicated coach, and lifelong student of the game. My coaching career spans two decades, working with high school boys and girls and all levels of club teams. I’ve also served five years as a collegiate assistant coach at West Virginia State University, specializing in technical and tactical development.
I believe in coaching the beauty of the game while inspiring athletes to grow, persevere, and succeed—both on and off the court.
